Southampton’s Premier League clash with Leeds has been postponed to allow the Saints to play their FA Cup tie against Shrewsbury next week.

But both sides will meet at St Mary’s next Wednesday, the same evening Southampton were meant to travel to Leeds with the Premier League match now being rescheduled.
A Premier League statement read: “Leeds United v Southampton, due to played on Wednesday 20 January, has been postponed to allow for Southampton’s FA Cup third round fixture to be played against Shrewsbury Town.
“The FA Cup match is now scheduled to take place at St. Mary’s Stadium on Tuesday 19 January and will be broadcast live in the UK on BT Sport at 20:00 GMT.

“Southampton’s Premier League match at Leeds will be rescheduled in due course.
“Any future FA Cup rescheduling decisions involving Premier League teams will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.”
Southampton or Shrewsbury will be vying for a place in the fourth round of the FA Cup where they will face Arsenal.
The winner of that match will take on non-league minnows Chorley or Wolves in the fifth round.
